Charleigh Turns Two

Summer is coming that means kids are out of school looking for fun things to do. I remember as a little girl how much I loved selling lemonade especially on days that were so hot nothing says refreshing like a nice glass of cold lemonade. Sweet Charleigh was turning two so what’s a perfect way to celebrate summer and a birthday than with a  lemonade stand.

The girls had an adorable lemonade stand decorated to accent our theme serving lemonade, and some pink chocolate covered Oreo cookies. We used our beverage cart as a backup as it was an unusually hot August day.  The table décor was simple, elegant, and quite girly. Pinks, yellows, pops of brown, and gold. My brown rattan plate chargers accented our plates and using a golden serving dish filled with scented lemons just added that special touch along with Charleighs Birthday invitation nicely framed.  I sprinkled a little confetti around adding an adorable ice cream cone favour filled with extra sweetness at each place setting.

Dressed in beautiful party attire proudly wearing gumball necklaces the girls enjoyed sampling luscious pink lemon cupcakes, homemade fruit tarts, and lemon bars but most of all they enjoyed being with each other that’s what it’s all about! At the end of the party, they were able to choose a Princess mirror to take home as what girl does not need her own Princess mirror to keep them looking stylish and cute!

Lemonade stands are such fun, but they are also a great way for kids to start learning business skills and these girls are no exceptions, they are extraordinary little entrepreneurs from selling lemonade to girl scout cookies.  Here is a sweet recipe I like for making lemonade that I thought I would share with all of you. Enjoy!

  • 4 cups sugar

  • 4 cups fresh lemon juice

  • Two lemons sliced

  • 4 cups water

  • Ice for serving

Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan, mix the sugar, water until dissolved, and the mixture is hot.

  2. Allow to cool, and then place in large drink dispenser or jug.

  3. Add 2 gallons of cold water, lemon juice, lemon slices, and stir completely.

Refrigerate and allow to cool completely.
